Dalmation Molly

Hey all! Ive been gone for a while but thought Id drop in and ask everyone a question regarding this issue Ive had with my Mollies in the past week. I had two Mollys with 4 Penguin Tetra and 2 Playtes (can't spell that one - but you know what I mean) in a 25 Gallon Tank.

Now, I have ONE dalmation molly left. Out of no where my little white Molly died. He was hanging out on the gravel in the morning on Monday a.m, seemed fine that night and then Tuesday am floating.

Now right before that I had noticed a little fin rot on my dalmation molly and what looked like shedded black fin in the gravel of my tank. I don't understand it. All of my other fish are doing wonderful. I have a tbs of salt per 5 gal. water in my tank. My readings for my water are a little on the alkaline side but 7.6 is a good reading in my book. Nitrates are the lowest they can be and so is the ammonia. I change water every Sunday - 5 gallons.

There is only thing that was done different - last sunday I realized I was out of fish flakes and gave the fish beta food that night. Would that effect the Mollies and why if so. I read the label up and down but YOU guys always know!

Thats all the info I can tell you. Any thoughts?

THANKS! Hope you are all doing well!

Hi, welcome back.

What exactly are your readings for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates?

That info might help everyone try to figure out what's going on.

I don't think the betta food would have hurt anyone.

Welcome back, I think the betta food would be ok. She may have developed internal parasites or an ulcer. We're sorry you lost her.
