Hi sorry to hear about the ICK but it is easily treated.. thank goodness.
There are a lot of products out there that you can buy to treat the fish with. Jungle Lab makes one such product. Usually folks turn up there heater for two weeks, that kills the ICK, but Im not sure if your Oscar should be in 84* water. May have to research that. Hopefully one of the members here with Oscars can give you a hand in that.
good luck.. ~ kate

You may not have to be too concerned about what your PH is. If you have had your tank running for so long now, the PH is most likely where it has always been. What you should concern yourself with is possibly doing a water change asap and see if that doesnt help. So many times our water perimeters could be off and our fish let us know when they start acting sick or out of the norm. When ever my fish start acting strangely I always do an immediate water change, as I know something must be wrong.
In your case, I cannot say for sure that is the problem. I have no idea when the last time you did a water change, how much and what size tank you have or what your water change routine is. If you can let us know.. hopefully we will be able to give you a hand.
ICK looks like little piece of salt over the fish. Finrot is another matter.

Hi tink...welcome to fishlore yes oscars can handle the 82's if its ick...can you get a pic of the fish? and as kate said, the ph probably isnt an issue if you have had the tank so long..having your water readings would help also..ammonia?nitrites? & nitrates? ..oscars can also handle the ick meds as well...but make sure its actually ick first...goodluck!

Welcome to Fishlore.

I'd agree with raising the temp and you should start doing daily water changes of about 25-40%. Clean the substrate once a week and try to make the replacement water close to the tank water temp.

If you can pick up the API master freshwater testing kit, I'd recommend it to see how your tank chemistry is. Also some Garlic Guard, if you can find it.
