Corydoras Cut!!! Help Me!!!!

Ok, so this freak accident happened with my BREEDER CORYDORAS when i was cleaning the tank. The water was murky with mulm and i was blindly rearranging decorations (stupid idea), in this case, my rocks. I grabbed what i thought was a rock cautiously and it turned out to be Ginger, my breeder peppered cory!

It started out as a mild hardly noticable scar, but now almost all of the left side of her head, except her eye, is covered in what looks like pink underskin, barely showing a slighlty open wound. I've been faithfully treating with melafix, or whatever that herby medicine is, and nothing has happened! She's heavily breathing and I dunno what do do anymore. Should i just "put her out of her misery" I NEED HELP!!!

How long ago did this happen?
What are the ppm ratings of ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates?

Hope everything goes well.

This happened a couple days ago...

I'm not sure of the ratings... never used a test kit, all my fish live a relatively long life. Should I start using them?

It's a good idea. Sometimes a wound might not heal simply because there are too many nitrates in the water. The body is spending too much of its energy fighting off nitrate poisoning. (Not saying that it's happening here, just giving an explanation of why it's good to have a kit and test when you're having issues, if not any other time)

she eats well, but she's usually staying put in one place, hardly ever moves when the light is on, and makes a dash to a new location when the lights are off

Can you post a picture of her? If you can get Vita-Chem, Garlic Guard and Fish Protector, I would add all of them daily and do daily water changes of at least 25%.

I can't post a picture, but I can give a description... :

-Peppered Corydoras Appearance and dark, intense coloration where cut hasn't reached

-Cut area is just on the left side of her head covering everythin except her eye

-Cut used to be a pink callous-like lump but has exceeded to a mild open wound outlined by pink underskin due to excessive "flashing" as if she had ich

-The fish heavily breathes and rocks foward and backward with each breath she takes, which have increased in speed since the cut.

-Dorsal fin is now leaning to the right like Shamu at Sea World

She can barely swim upright now! She's rocking back and forth with each breath she takes! Can I (or should I) euthanize her? I can't stand her suffering like this

I'd have to consider if it was time to put her down, but you'd be in the best position to determine if she's past hope.

I'd probably treat her with those aides that I mentioned and start a course of triple sulfa. It sounds like a heavy-duty infection is possible.
