Cardinal Tetra

i got two of these in my tank they hang around with glowlight and neon, today while i was feeding i noticed one of them (Cardinal Tetra) had one of there eye missing?! isit going to be ok? what caused it? it didnt really eat when i saw it i think it struggled any tips please!

Had you noticed anything unusual with that Tetra before? A fight or disease is usually the cause of a lost eye. Do you have a picture that you could post? For now, I'd recommend Vita-chem, Fish Protector and Garlic Guard daily. No matter what the cause is, those would help.

i cannot get a clear picture however i can describe the damage, the eye is completly missing just empty space and damage is bigger then the eye in a completly perfect circle. also upper part of the body is gone to a dark grey/ black colour

I think it would be best to isolate that tetra .. either in a hospital tank if you have one, or in a netting breeders box. The products I mentioned earlier given daily would be good to do. If you have a hospital tank for the tetra, triple sulfa would be a good med to start dealing bacterial infection, which is highly probable.

What are your water parameters? This is most likely caused by water conditions. I'd start using Prime to treat all the water and doing 25-50% daily water changes until you get 0 for ammonia and nitrites and 10 or less for nitrates using the API master freshwater liquid testing kit.
