Fungus?

My new guppy (in isolation tank) has a patch of white between her body and tail. One of the other guppies has a ragged tail. I assume the patch is a fungus as it is white. In the white area, her scales really stand out. One of the others has a very small patch on top of his back.

I treated with Fungus Eliminator, but now am wondering if I should have used melafix. I have 2 juvenile mollies in the tank as well. Should I use the melafix, and if I do, do I have to change all the water in the tank to remove the Fungus Eliminator?

Do you have a picture you can post? It's possible that's not a fungus, but columnaris - an infection that would be treated with an antibiotic.

I tried to get a pic, but it simply won't come out.

If it is an infection the api company also makes pimafix for fungal infections.

I went online and found pictures of columnaris. It appears to be exactly that. I researched and it said to use pimafix and maracyn 2 as a treatment, along with lower temp and salt. I did all that. It also said to use a bath of methylene blue and they are currently in their bathtub. I used a specimen container as the bathtub and will use that for only sick fish from here on out.

When our Betta Mickey had columnaris break out, it took a couple days for the 'fur' to fall off. We were using Triple Sulfa on him, but he also had Popeye and wasn't responding to Maracyn-2.

I think daily drops of Garlic Guard, Fish Protector and Vitachem also helped.

I put in some vita-chem this morning. I am using Pimafix and Marcyn2. Perhaps I should change to Triple Sulfa, but I have been treating for 2 days now. There seems to be a patch of it that isn't there anymore, so I am hoping this will work. I also gave her a bath in Methylene Blue yesterday and will repeat that today.

I tried to get some garlic yesterday, as I hear that is fabulous for them, but it was $20 a bottle, and I just can't afford that on top of buying all the other medications. If it is really a good thing to have in my inventory, please let me know and I will stick it on a credit card.

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Produc...22&c=3578+4245 - $5/bottle at DFS. Even with shipping, it would be less than $20.. and you can always order more for the same shipping cost.

It does sound like you're having results.. Mickey had 2 large clumps of columnaris on his face and 1 fell off around the 2nd day, the 2nd fell off the next day.
