Everyone s sick now!

I'm so upset...Looks most of the fish are getting sick. What should I do? Hospital tank is 10g, our main tank is 140G. Fish guy didn't help me...I know we shouldn't treat the tank but I have no choice. I have Maracyn-two and Maroxy on hand. Tried rid-fungus three days.

Should I do a water change, then treat w/the Mardel products?

Im really new to all this fish stuff so take my advice for what it is.. someone with no real experience giving it..

My opinion would be its better to treat the whole tank then to not treat at all. if all the fish are showing signs of sickness then maybe its a "tank" issue and should all be treated.

I hope the fish feel better soon. wish i could help more.

others may feel differently than i do, but here's my opinion, for what it's worth.

i would never randomly try a medication without first establishing to the best of my ability what exactly the problem is. even once i had it narrowed down, i would first opt for any non-medicated forms of treatment if at all recommended (for example, with ICH, i'd raise the temp and do more water changes, rather than medicate). when medication is called for, i'd consider all the tank occupants (i have no hospital tank) to see how they could tolerate it before actually dosing them (so as not to kill any 'scaleless' fish, etc).

anyway, my questions for you would be... what are the symptoms? what fish are affected? how long has it been going on? how often are you doing water changes? your nitrites and nitrates might be a little high for discus, but i'm not an expert on their care, so perhaps someone else can help with that. the loaches are likely particularly sensitive to medication, so use caution with what you select.

anyway, with more information maybe someone here can be of more help. without it, i couldn't recommend for or against any particular medication.

Thank You Sereneryan! I guess I freaked out yesterday. I was thrown into worse case scenario{husband out of town}They look so much better this am. Water is testing great again. I've empowered myself..non stop reading on caring for tank.

Books don't give you the human trial and error like the Forum does.

We test water every other day. He does a min of 2-25% water changes each week. More when water tests more than 0. I now have a hookup on my walker to help me w/water changes.

Oh Yeah, I now have MTS! As soon as evrything settles down, getting another tank just for the Discus.

Again, Thank You!...

I think you have it now, more water changes should help the whole tank.

Thanks, it is actually taken by a friend of mine, right here from my town. Any sunny day, (or moon lit night) you can see the mountain from here.
