Dry skin??

The best way I know how to describe the problem is just that. It looks like my tiger barbs have dry skin. I don't know what's up with them. They don't act any different. They are still very active. The Red Tail Shark doesn't exhibit the same problem. I started feeding Omega One flake food and the colors have really started to pop, but this "dry skin" problem still persists. Should I add something to the tank, like stress coat or something? Please help, I want my fish looking (and feeling) their best.

Does the skin of the fish appear dusty in yellow or grey patches?

If so your fish has velvet =\

Velvet is an external parasite. You can treat it with one of these meds:

Be careful with the CopperSafe, some fish don't do well with it.

Has anyone used this product or have any insight to whether it might work?

We've used it and it has been effective with internal parasites. We haven't tried it for external parasites though.

Well, so far so good. The fish are looking better after the first dose yesterday. I just did a water change and gave the tank a second dose. We'll see how things look tomorrow.
