I've had a run of
ICH decimate my freshwater aquarium. I lost a clown loach and catfish first, so I started a regimine of copper sulfate 4 days ago, but the Ich continued to get worse. The copper was clearly having adverse affects on my eel, so I have her in a temporary isolation tank, but the remaining fish, including 3 hardy cichlids have continued to get worse and die. I am watching my last cichlid struggle as I write this. My question is: why did the copper sulfate not work? I followed the dosages, increased the temperature to 80F, and did frequent 50% water changes (treating new water with the copper), per many articles... All water measurements (
ammonia, nitrates,
pH, etc) are in acceptable range. The disease seemed completely unfazed by it. What did I miss? Also, what do I need to do to make my tank safe for my next generation of fish?
