Going going gone...

I've had a run of ICH decimate my freshwater aquarium. I lost a clown loach and catfish first, so I started a regimine of copper sulfate 4 days ago, but the Ich continued to get worse. The copper was clearly having adverse affects on my eel, so I have her in a temporary isolation tank, but the remaining fish, including 3 hardy cichlids have continued to get worse and die. I am watching my last cichlid struggle as I write this. My question is: why did the copper sulfate not work? I followed the dosages, increased the temperature to 80F, and did frequent 50% water changes (treating new water with the copper), per many articles... All water measurements (ammonia, nitrates, pH, etc) are in acceptable range. The disease seemed completely unfazed by it. What did I miss? Also, what do I need to do to make my tank safe for my next generation of fish?

Re: Going going gone...

Since the medication is not working, just try a massive water change to see if the fish perk up. Simple clean water can make such a difference on how a fish feels.

Re: Going going gone...

Raise your temperature to 82F or above, do frequent water changes (warmer water has less oxygen) continue this for 14 days. sorry you've had so many losses.
