So since I'm getting some bio-spira soon. My bf went ahead and got himself 2 tiger barbs (getting more later).
They were both in the hospital tank, but one just would not leave the other one alone. So only after a few days, I decided that the smaller one (the one being picked on) was just getting too stressed and needed to be seperated. So I scooped him/her out and put it in the main tank.
Now.. I think that was a mistake.
I noticed that it looks like it's tail fin has been nipped... possibly by the other barb... but the thing that's really worrying me is that when I inspected it closer, it looks like it's stomach is concave.
What could be the problem? Feel bad since I just put it in the tank and it seems happier... but I plan on getting it back out tomorrow (gonna be a pain in the butt) and sticking it back in the hospital tank.
I only have Melafix and the tetracycline tablets... would these work for whatever might be wrong (the stomach not the fin)?

hows the other barb? hope he hasnt caught whatever it is too and its maybe just a stress thing from being moved lfs to you then from tank to tank! he's had 3 homes in a short space of time!! they say moving is a stressfull life event for humans!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well the little one is back in the quarantine tank. I would've left him/her in the main tank (stomach looked fine), but it seems as though he/she has been having a fun time nipping at our guppies.
So I caught the little bugger and put him back into the quarantine tank to be picked on by the bigger barb. Serves the little butt right! Tryed being nice by getting him out of a stressful situation and all he wanted to do today was pick on our poor lo9veable little gups! BAD BAD BARB!

Anywho! I think I was just worrying over nothing. When I caught him today I didn't see anything wrong with him... stomach looked fine.

horray! we like happy endings!! glad to hear all is well. shame about the bullying though! he's been put in "time out" then!! i thought it was just kids that got "timed out"/put on "naughty step" etc!!! i have heard these barbs arent very friendly though

Could be he was just hungry. Most stores keep tons of fish in each tank and it would be easy for one to go without food. Keep an eye on him though.
