My male danio has been acting weird all day today. Well.. not all day.. just after the water change.
I did a 10% change today.. and afterwards... I noticed that he was hanging around the dead center of the tank.
Another danio might come along and chase him, and he'll swim away... but he'll go right back to the dead center and just sorta stay there.. It's very odd and I'm worried that he might be sick.

It seems as though he might be constipated... for the past few days I've noticed that he's had that string of poop coming out but not releasing into the tank. He seems to be ok from that though since I haven't been feeding them as much.
Today I noticed he has a small red speck on his pectoral? fin that wasn't there yesterday.

And erm.. that's about it.. other than the odd behavious and the red speck.. he's normal. He'll get excited when I come near the tank (thinking I'm gonna feed them)... he's been eating the small amount that I've been giving them... I dunno... I'm just worried that he's sick.

wow that is an odd behavior i don't know what could be wrong with him. I would say give him an epsom salt bath but to break up the constipation, but idk if that would work!!! BEFORE YOU DO THAT wait for one of the moderators to repond to make sure it alright I don't want you to hurt ur poor little guy....

Well he's still hanging around that area... but that red speck is gone and the constipation has cleared up it seems since I've been feeding them a little less.
It's just weird how he's picked that one spot to hang out. He'll swim around and chase/play with the other danios as usual, but I dunno... I guess that's just his fav spot or something.
I'm probably just making a big deal out of nothing... least I hope that's the care

ya know things like that happen sometimes they act odd and a few days later they are fine they just wanted some attention or something

I dunno.... I watched him closer today... and when he gets in that spot.. he does this really weird thing where he'll open his mouth like he's about to grab something (that's not there)..... I dunno if that's considered gasping or whatever....
Everything else about him is just fine... he's not always in that spot, but when he is... he does very weird things

is this spot that ur danio likes is that where you generally feed your fish?? If so he that may be what he is doing saying he wants food lol just a thought

Very sure it's a male. He's nice a scrawny/sleek while the females in my tank are all big fatties :P heh So no.. he's most definetly NOT pregnant :P Not that danios would be able to get pregnant really since they drop eggs heh.

There really isn't a set spot where I feed them. I just sprinkle in a few flakes at the top and they go bonkers.
I'm just thinking it's his fav spot, but it's still worrying me.....

Yeah, he's still doing ok.
Other from slight discoloration... he's not hanging out in that certain spot as often, but... he's still there every once in a while.

it might be like his confort spot...he may be feeling a bit under the weather and that is where he hangs out to feel better like when we as humans do things like that make sense?

i know nowt about fish....but is he old? maybe he's slowing down in his old age? just a thought? hope he's ok. keep us posted!

Well, he's definitely not slowing down any. I had a HARD time catching him today in our main tank so I could put him and the girl with fin rot into the hospital tank.
His fins are a bit frayed... they were like that when I got him, so I decided to put him in the hospital tank. Can't hurt anything right?

I'm not sure how old he is though. All of my fish have grown since I got them so... I'm guessing he's still pretty young... unless they all grew b/c they had a larger tank... *shrugs*

Him and my fin rot gal are doing great for now in their yellow medicated water :P heh Swimming around like crazy, chasing after eachother and looking for food as usual.
