i have two fish that both have a warty looking growth starting on thier pectoral fin just where they meet the body-- we have treated 2x in the past week for ICH and fungus as we saw signs of both in other fish-stringy feces white spots ect-- still seeing ich but in the process of raising the temp-- that seems to be the only hting that works long term-- anyways-- the guy at the LFS said that it sounds like cauliflower disease and it really will never go away esp with the temp raised--but that it is contagious. now heres the dilema--- idon't want to do nothing because we lost one awhile back from this saem type of warty growth-- i think we thought then that it was fin rot-- because the little guy flicked off his tail when the thing got really big-- then he passed soon after that, all off balance and everything-- i'm really concerned and at a loss-- the water parameters are perfect and the water is changed about 2x/week-- what else can i do? can anyone help-- i don't understand how the baby fry in the tank are doing so well and the others are ill? lila

Start feeding the fish flake food soaked in garlic.
This will keep the virus in check.

do i make a garlic paste, or could i used jarred minced garlic, and just let the flakes soak up the juice. ? i've never heard of this before-- will it harm my other fish? unfortunately i don't have a q tank so i would be feeding the fish to all the others in the tank as well-- thanks-- LILA

I make a seperate jar ( usually a baby food sized jar) which I put about 1/4 full with flake food and then pour the juice out of a minced garlic bottle over the food.
I then feed these flakes to the affected fish.
be sure and use the equipment for the affected tank on that tank only while they are showing signs of infection.
There are also foods available that have garlic in them .

thanks-- i soaked some food in crushed fresh garlic, spooned out the garlic and they seemed to not mind it-- i'm confused as to what you mean about the equiptment LILA

Equipment= nets, hoses, water change buckets....
If you have fish showing signs of an active infection, this equipment can carry the infection into other tanks.

Once they no longer show signs, feed them the garlic food once a week.

Lila the garlic won't hurt them in any way. So feeding them garlic/food doesn't have to be stopped. I understand it will also increase their appetite.

don't need any help increasing thier appetite-- they are such beggers!!! i love this garlic treatment-- makes me feel better becasue it is natural and isn't something that may cause cancer to humans!! how long should it take to help the wartyness go away thankss- LILA

It varies depending on the fish and the severity of the infection.

You should notice some changes within a week though.
