help! my fish are dying from unknown causes!!!!!

help me please! all my fish in my ten gallon tank are dying! the pH is stable, the food is fine, my fish are young and they had been completely compatible and healthy for about a year together. the water is maintained at a stable temperature and pure spring water is what they had and i change it regularly! what is happenning to them?! i need someone who can give me good reliable advice. my fish looked fine, but one day they were just floating upside down on the surface! they didn't look sick, they weren't coated with anything.... i mean, what went wrong? everything was perfect, and now i only have a few fish left. sniff sniff.
i hope my Dwarf gourami doesn't die. he is my favorite. is there anything i can do to prevent further death?
HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED thanx--fishphreak

Please post the readings for your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph levels. Do you do gravel vacs when you change your water? Let us know so we can help you.

Re: help! my fish are dying from unknown causes!!!!!

never mind...i found out that the ammonia levels in the tank were very high, and yes i do gravel vacs when i clean the tank. i have promptly switched the fish to a new tank with special water and they are doing just fine. i guess i was just being ignorant and i have paid a price for it. on the bright side though, i got some new neon tetras, dwarf gouramis, two bettas and a bristlenose pleco.
i guess i was making a big deal about a little error. thanks anyway.--fishphreak.
PS. do you know if live brine shrimp is ok to feed carp? we have a tank outside and we are trying out new foods.

Fishfreak, make sure your tank is cycled or you will have the same problem. The neons are very sensitive to ammonia and nitrites. I don't know of any fish that won't eat brine shrimp. They are very tiny though, and may be too little for fish bigger than say angel fish.

thank you so much for your help. we went on vacation and my tank wasn't cycled because my neighbor didn't know how because he was taking care of my fish, so i won't let it happen again. thanks!

And all because of the neighbor! Next time explain to him (or her) exactly what to do, and make sure he (she) understands! Fish are so delicate and need good care, otherwise they die if neglected. I can imagine what it felt like to lose all the fish Sorry about that.

When you say you got 2 bettas did you mean male bettas or female bettas? If you meant male bettas don't put them together.
