I have a 75 gallon assorted african cichlid tank that has been up and running for 3+ months. I cylcle with bio-spira and since then I have added various africans (3 or 4 at a time) and now have 13 that have been doing fine for the last 2 months or so. All fish have been doing fine, but in the last week one blue johanni has been rather listless and has not eaten well. Tonight I noticed him hovering near the top as if gasping for air. I immediately did a 20%
water change, but I am wondering what is going on. No other fish seem affected, he is not picked on as the aggression is spread out evenly. My
test kit is at school with my 55 gal. tank and I will get it tomorrow to see if my water is o.k. I would think if the water was funky, more fish would be affected. I can not see any outward signs of disease, other than tonight a lack of bright color and the hovering near the top. Suggestions would be appreciated.
