Thought fish were attacked/injured... was malawi bloat
Now I have had 2 victims dead. One still alive and doing okay (the blue one w/ the ulcer on the side)...
The rest of my african cichlids in the main tank are acting normal, looking normal, eating normal, and pooping normal (no sign of white stringy stuff)...
should I treat the main tank profilacticly?
I am really tore up because I had perfect water conditions the past 5 days now w/ no nitrites, even a couple days before that the water conditions showed nitrites of 0.25 or less... ammonia was 0, ph 8, nitrate 10... I have been so clean w/ my tanks..
The fish affected except for my yellow boy kenyi that passed tonight came out of the same mixed african tank on the same day from the same shipment of new fish (what I don't understand is the fish store always quarintines the fish and treats them before selling) I have fed the fish exactly as told, I do frozen food every other day skipping the weekends only 1 cube for the whole tank replacing 1 feeding, I use the cichlid flakes w/ low protien, I use spirla (sp) pellets also... as directed, so I don't see the feeding being a factor....
My mother said to call the fish store she never had an issue w/ them giving store credit for sick fish, as long as I freeze the fish and take a water sample along w/ them. I just don't want to take any to them! I want to keep my fish I have now alive and well!
