Platies scratching?

4 platies 10 gallon UNCYCLED tank. I do frequent water changes to ensure all the nitro readings maintain 0.0 ppm. The have all started scratching against decorations and leaves? The have no visible white or yellow spots, one of the fish has inflamed gills. If it is a parasite how high can I increase the temp with platies and more importantly will my 1 week old fry be ok with a temp increase?

I am currently dealing with ick and have my tank at 84-86. Its been almost a week and all my fish are fine, even my 4 day old platy fry.
Have you tested for ammonia? That is more likely the cause.

The highest ammonia level was 0.5 ppm. I test the levels twice a day with api master test kit.

Test when the water hasn't been changed for at least 24 hours to get the most accurate results. Ich is very possible since the spots show after they've had ich a little while, but parasites can cause that too. Do you have any pictures to post?

For Ich, I'd raise the temp to 83F and keep it there for 2 weeks. Ich-Attack is the only thing that I would use. It's optional and you still want to keep the tank warmer for the full 2 weeks, but it's safe for fry and can help them to be more comfortable.
