My dwarf platy is kindof old. He keeps making sharp turns. Like when a dog is chasing its tail. He will usually do it ten times a minute.

How old? What are your readings? Gills inflamed or anything? Does it look like his color is matted? can you post a pic? or vid?

He is probably 5 to 6 months old. He doesnt have any inflamed gills or anything. His color is still the same.

Normal platies live to 3-5 years of age.

Is he doing it to rub himself against stuff?

Does he scrape or rub against anything? What is the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings, exactly? What's the tank temp and is there any aeration in it?

I dont know any of that stuff but he does not scrape up against anything.

You'll want to get an API master freshwater test kit asap. He's probably reacting to water chemistry problems and I'd start changing 25% of the water daily. Also if you can, use Prime to treat your tap water.

I've gone over and seen it. He means he's had it for several months, not that it is that old. He swims just fine but then spins in a circle for some reason.
