Tumor?

I have a big gourami, about 6 inches long that looks like it maybe has a tumor on it's anal area. The fish is pale yellow, but the growth is orange and about 1/4 inch in size. The fish has been hiding in the back of the tank for several weeks, and is holding it's fins stiff and rigid. It seems to be eating, and does occasionally come out to the center of the tank and swims around.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Do fish get hemoroids?

I will try to post a picture tomorrow if I can figure out how to.
Thanks,
Vickie

Welcome to Fishlore.

It's also possible that it's an ulcer or parasite, but we'll be able to tell better when you post the picture. How long has this been growing?

I've posted pictures in the gallery. I had the fish out of the tank today and examined it more closly. It is not a growth on the fish. It actually looks like its a piece of intestine or something. Looks like the anal opening is enlarged and that allowed this to come out, but now the bulge is too big to slip back in. I noticed today that it is able to poop, so that is a good sign, I think.

Yesterday was the first time I noticed the growth/bulge problem, but the fish has been acting odd for a month or so.

Hernia perhaps? Anyone have a suggestion to help?
