Neon Tetra Strange Swimming

Hi

My neon tetra is swimming strangely. His body is diaganol with nose towards bottom of tank and he swimming at top to middle level, in a sort of bobbing motion most of time but does move around tank. stomach looks a little bigger than usual but not sure if thats just angle he is at makes it look like that

Water quality etc is fine, i check it regulary and do water changes every week, all my other fish are fine (6 rd eye tetras and 4 other neons)

This neon has been acting like this for few hours i think maybe more

will try to get video up but may take a while

any ideas whats wrong and what to do

Is the ammonia or nitrates above 0? Is there aeration running in the tank? Do his gills look red/purple?

Have had him about 3 weeks

Everything else seems fine, i looked again and his stomach is normal just angle he is at made me think was not so

gills look ok far as i can tell

he is still swimming like this this morning but my fish shop not open for few hours guy there is an expert and should be able to help or have treatment if one will work

ammonia and nitrite at zero and nitrate is almost at zero

bit of a puzzle i will do water change see if that helps at all

thanks

Well, there's a few possibilities.

One is swim bladder disorder, the only treatment for that is fasting him for a few days.

Another would be Neon Tetra disease, no treatment unfortunately and he'd need to be isolated as it's contagious.

The last thing I can think of would be internal parasites. Parasite Clear tablets are the thing to try there, or a stronger med would be "Clout". Hopefully that's the problem since it's the most treatable.

I don't think it's NTD. (Neon Tetra disease) it has lot of color from what I can see in the video. I would go ahead and isolated it just to be on the safe side
tetragirl, has that fish lost some of it's color compared to when you 1st got it?

my vote would be that something is up with it's swim bladder.

Hi

showed video to guy in fish shop he is very expert best cared for fish in his store so i really trust him. he reckons is swimbladder infection so i have a treatment for it. hope it will work. his colour is good too. probably he either got an infection or bumped into something so hope he gets better

thanks for your advice

He got better and was swimming fine for 24hours then i fed my fish and shortly after he went back to problem. this is problem with swimbladder according to guy in store where after they eat this happens. so i will continue treatment and for few days shall remove him while the others feed

i do not have hospital or spare tank and cant get one and the equipment soon but have a never used bowl i can put tank water in and he can have a little swim while others eat

how many days should he fast for as i want to avoid the stress of taking him out too often or other fish being hungry i know the others will be fine a day or two without food i just like to keep them nourished!

any tips are welcome

thanks
