Crooked Danios?

I have never posted here before, but I've looked online and can't find an answer so I thought perhaps someone here would know. I have some rather old zebra danios (5 years) and something very weird is happening. I got the tank and fish from a friend who moved out of state, and I've had it (and the fish) for 2 years. I also have rosy barbs in the tank and they seem just fine, but my danios are...for lack of a better description...becoming crooked. I've lost a few and by the time they die, they almost look like a "W". I've tested the water and the PH seems to be fine, and the nitrate/nitrite levels vary but I correct them. What could this be? If they were brand new, I could blame it on bad breeding, but these have been completely normal up to this point, and like I said...they're at LEAST 5 years old.

Welcome!!!

It sounds like broken spine due to old age.
This is not uncommon in older, smaller fish such as danios, guppies or other fish that size.

Welcome to Fishlore.

Sounds like they've been well taken care of. Dino's right and really I think the best thing you can do is just take care of them as always.
