fast breathing

my Rupert (fire gorumi) is breathing a bit hard, IE fast gill movements.
What would cause this? Should I another water change with RO water? We have a home unit for our drinking water but my mother lets my use it for my fish tank too.
Sorry for the long post. I thought that I would be through. Also sorry if some of my sentences are a bit off. I'm dyslexic and I try my best to make every thing sound and spelled right but some times things slip past me.

I tested my water and my ammonium was .25. I did a 25-30% water change.
I used some Jungle external parasite med because he was flashing on the intake of my filter like crazy for about a 40 Sec. then stopped.
He only flashed again once the rest of the today. He does not have any thing on him that look like any parasite that I know of.

On the bottle it said to keep the water aerated, well I thought that just the filter would be ok for air. I'm not sure if that is what is making him breathing fast.

All of my other fish are fine, 5 black tetras and my red wag platy, no fast gill movement. I put my carbon bag in there to take the meds out and I have a air stone on.

I double doused the tank with some Jungle Declor tabs. We do not have chlorine in our water, as we are on a well, but we do have a bad iron problem and other heavy metals. The tabs seem to have helped a bit. He is not breathing AS fast but its still a bit more than he does most of the time

Thanks

I'd definitely recommend Prime to deal with those heavy metals. He could use a running airstone, especially with that parasite med.

The ammonia indicated the tank's not cycled or in a mini-cycle so he could be dealing with ammonia poisoning. The treatment for that is water changes, so I think another one could help.

I know that my tank was cycled. The reading were all fine last week when I tested them. I think its just a mini-cycle. He is doing much better this morning. No more fast gills.

The thing is that I can only get Prime from Foster and Smith and I can't make a new order till Feb. I will get a bottle when I order next. I know that my LFS has these two products. Are these any good?
