Getting Healthy Guppies

I am using Guppies as my first fish and I currently have 2 very healthy and happy guppies in my tank but I want more for them to hang with lol. Unfortunately my local fish store doesn't value feeder guppies as much because the tank they keep them in is basically a death tank and the guppies I get from them are infected with fungus and ussually ick. I guess I got lucky with the guppies I got because they were fine when i got them. Is there any fast way to dissinfect fish in a quarintine tank so they don't infect the main tank?

Welcome any advice you guys might have :]

Ya. Holdem in there for about two weeks. If they are sick, they'll show within that time period. After then, and they look fine they are just fine to put in.

thanks :]

is there anyway to dissnfect them though? I know with ick though since it's a parasite you ussually have to speed up the process of the parasite by turning up the tempurature

Oh boy
My stupid marbles have had like 5 million babies its ridiculous.
Ive got a 35 and a 10
My 35 has tets, mollies, swords, platys, a chinese algae eater, white clouds, and danios.
It is pretty overstocked but the fish are just fine.
My 10 has a pair of neons, some swords, and some mollies.

To keep ich at bay, keep your temperature at 82F for a 2 week period.
In your case, to get your fish in better health, I would suggest two, 25% water changes a week.

Dino's right,

You should keep guppies in a ratio of 1 male to every 2-4 females. So in a 10g you can have upwards of 1 male and 4 females and be fine. If you don't want to buy more tanks to care for the babies you can just leave them and the parents will eat em usually.

You can also put salt in the tank(1 teaspoon per gallon). Ick hates salt!

Also, if you noticed that the ick spots are gone on a fish, vacuum the gravel because the ick parasites are in there.

Good luck!

Why alter the chemistry of your water by adding salt when changing the temperature will do the same thing in the same time period?

You should try caboma. It is a really good plant and pretty cheap (I paid like $2.50 for a bundle at my PetSmart) It does not require to much light and no c02 equipment to grow and survive. Guppies do not eat this kind of plant.

Some fish are not ment to have really high temperatures, White clouds like it cooler as do goldfish, but can better stand salinity so in those cases It might be better to use salt, but most times raising the temp is best.
