Sick Sumo or Loco Loach?

I have a little nice sumo loach, about a 1.5 long, and a nice school of silver tipped tetras well yesterday I saw on of the tetras and it had no back fin at all this was not like fin rot gone it was like bitten off. If you know what a silver tipped tetra lookes like that tail was gone to the point that the little black dot on there hind end was gone. this morning I could find the poor fishy at all. Then today I saw the sumo loach has red all over it face and cheeks like and so my question is.
Would that little loach eat that fish, could he even have tore the tail off in the first place?

or,,,,,,

Is some illness going through my tank and cause this?

I don't think the Sumo loach is a danger to your tetras unless it was sick already.
Heres some information about your loach. http://www.loaches.com/species-index...ra-cf-balteata
Could you tell us please a little about your tank, size, water test readings. the red face and gill area sounds like an ammonia problem.

That sounds like a bacterial infection. Could you post a pic? What were the exact test readings for ammonia, etc?

1 Ammonia-zero Nitrites-zero Nitrates-3 Cant post a picture, I live where you cant get high speed, and my dialup conection wont let me.

2 I have a very fine gravel or a very coarse sand depending on how you look at it.
