My molly has popeye...I think?

So this is my first venture out of the beginner forum. I have a gold barb, a white mollie, and a black mollie. Well besides the fact that that over crowded a 2.5 gallon tank, the mollies just fought all the time especially at feeding time.

Well the black mollie passed before I got my new 29G tank ready. The white mollies has one of his eyes bulging out, it has actually gotten better over the last few days, but still bulges. Should I yank him out of the 29 gallon and put him back in the 2.5 until he's healed or is he ok with the gold barb in the 29 gallon tank. I believe more then anything its a injury vs a bacterial infection but not sure on how to be positive. If its an injury do you treat it?

i would definetly but the molly back in the 2.5 untill you know whats wrong for sure, so you can avoid the other fish catching it

yeah keep it separate! nothing worse than having to strip your tank cause of a sick fish

I'd seperate the molly with popeye into the 2.5g and treat him for popeye. If it's an injury you'll want to keep it from becoming infected. Maybe melafix & pimafix would be good treatment for him.

I woke up this morning and the molly is practically back to normal, It looks as if it is barely raised at all, you really have to know what to look for, as my wife thought i was insane. I was thinking about doing an Epsom salt bath for a few minutes tonight just to finish off the job. The gold barb has shown no sings of infection, so i believe it was the black molly that was always fighting that may have injured my white molly. I'll keep an "eye" on it ... get it and eye... OK, please stop booing.
