Need an Advice!

I found a goldy in a pet store. BUT... something is wrong with it, really wrong. It has some parasite or infection. Anyway, there is some sort of white grow on the bottom of the fish next to anal gland. It looks like a ?worm? sticking out from under the skin. The fish seems fine -- like eating, swimming, having fun... I kind of fall in love with that fish, I would like to get it and try to cure it but is there any hope for me and that goldy Or should I just leave it alone and let it be at the pet store?

thx ))

welcome to Fishlore. That sounds like the goldie was pooping white poop? Is it fuzzy? It could be a parasite, white poop (often a symptom of internal parasites) or a fungus. It's hard to say for sure without a picture.

I think that any fish is worth saving, and if you have a 20g tank or larger for that goldy and get him the right meds, he could be a longtime pet.

It is certaintly not poop, it is on the bottom of the fish's belly and between the fin and anal opening. Ill try to take a pick of it.

If you plan on bringing home an injured or sick fish, I hope that you have a quarantine tank set up and ready for it. No sense bringing it into an established tank and run the risk of infecting others.
Good luck with your decision on whether to bring it home or not.
