Sudden Death. What was wrong?

Spot (my male guppie) died today. I really have no idea why! He was fine last night and this morning and has been eating fine and swimming with the females etc., but i got home from school and he was dead on the bottom of the tank. Don't know how or why...

1 thing i did notice tho was that his fins were sortof stuck together ( don't really know how to describe it) but thats the only thing i could notice that was wrong with him from when i got him him out of the tank.

What i want to know is why did this happen so suddenly? Should i be concerend, becuase i have fry in the tank? Should i do a big water change or treat the 2 females incase theres something wrong with them that i haven't noticed yet?

thanks

He could have been just old -- we never really know for sure how old the fish are when we get them from the LFS (most of the time). Have you checked your water chemistry? Any other fish showing signs of distress?

hi. maybe your right. Mind you I haven't checked my water chemistry yet. I'll do it tomorrow. None of the others are showing distress.

clamped fins do indicate some stress, either disease or water chemistry.. or possibly age. we'll see what the water chemistry tests say.
