alright... one cloudy eye on a red eye tetra?

i give up. My fish is some sort of red eyed tetra with a diamond look to it. I thought it was a diamond tetra but it has red eyes so

anyways, the past two days it's left eye has been looking a little cloudy. Almost like it has the tiniest little piece of cotton ball stuck to part of it. Im concerned it's ich. I put ich/velvet medicine in there just to be on the safe side. Any thoughts?

make sure you took the activated carbon filter out or it will remove all of the medacine

actually now my "strawberry" fish has pop eye. I had been doing water changes once a week but I just changed over to every two weeks (2 gal tank) and the fish lady at the pet store said that should be more than efficient... seems not. Do fish recover from pop eye? I wonder if the tetra has the beginnings of it. My 2 cherry barbs are doing fine -those sure are hardy fish!

it sounds like a fungus thing going on.. you could treat with rid-fungus and check the LFS for a med for the popeye. i think trisulfa and/or one of the maracyn antibiotics will say it treats popeye.

thank you. ive done a couple of water changes and the fish look like they are doing much better. my water is getting cloudy (which i know is part of the cycle but i thought i was already through the cycle) and it's making me think that maybe im overpopulated and that is what is causing the problem. oh being a fish novice is not fun sometimes. lol! im getting there though. this site is fantastic

what exactly is your tank(s) capacity and population? Generally at least 1 gallon per adult inch of fish is recommended.
