I have bought 5 platy and 5 mollies.
the mollies are doing great but the platy...
three are dead they are dieing every other day like clockwork
they turn from orange to yellow between there tail and there torso fins the day before they die

please help!

do you have a water testing kit, something like: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Produc...&N=2004+113074 ? what are the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate readings? what's the water temp? what are you treating the tap water with? how big is the tank? how long has the tank been running? did you add the fish all at the same time? are the platys eating? what kind of behavior are they showing?

I am new to aquariums, I had my water tested after it was in the tank for a few days, like the girl at the pet shop said to. She told me the water was fine. I bought the 10 fish. put the in a 30 gallon tank. I decided to get the testing stuff and test it myself and I found the ammonia high the rest are fine. I bought some stuff for the filter to help remove the ammonia. The platys are eating.

she lied or doesn't know better, but your tank is at the very beginning of cycling.

Prime would be a good water conditioner to use while you're cycling the tank with fish in it. We use it as our regular water conditioner and it will help with protecting the fish from the toxins.

How much aeration do you have?
