Re: DISCUS EYE DISEASE

Wish I could help you, but I dont know what kind of disease it can be. You say you cleared it up once already.. what did you use? I also have Discus fish and they are my favorite too. Good luck with yours!

Re: DISCUS EYE DISEASE

would you say this fits your discus? have they shown any other symptoms or unusual behavior?

Cloudy Eye: Cloudy white appearance to one or both eyes.
Check for symptoms of another illness like velvet, ICH, or tuberculosis. Treat with OTC medication.

Re: DISCUS EYE DISEASE

Can you tell us more about your tank? What size it it, and how many discus are in the tank? Is there are other type of fish in the tank?

The reason I'm asking these questions is because discus are quite sensitive to stress. They need more water changes than most other fish, and other fish that are are active in the tank could be stressing your discus out. Let us know.

Re: DISCUS EYE DISEASE

From a lot of what i've read a cloudy eye could also be a sign of poor water conditions... that's not to say that you don't keep a tidy tank but discus can be picky fish. If they're not at all happy fish food/water parameters/lighting ANYTHING you'll know it.

Re: DISCUS EYE DISEASE

I've had fish with cloudy eyes. Using a broad-spectrum antibiotic seems to have cleared it (eSHa 2000), but for my other fish (both mollies), it didn't work and she didn't make it. That was the 2nd time she got cloudy and swollen and bloodshot eyes.
