Old tank, newer fish. What to get?

I currently have 3 corries, 2 cardinals, and 1 ram in my 20 gallon. i know I can put a lot more fish in, but im not sure what to get. I don't like basic looking fish such as danios. I also have a lot of live plants...so I'm not sure if i should get a pleco.

Any ideas? post photos if you can.

One suggestion I would make is to add to your cory school and cardinal school. They need to have a group of buddies to be happy. I would suggest 4 more cardinals and 2 more corys, at the least. Using the "rough" guidline inch per fish rule, that gives you 10 inches of corys, plus 12 inches of cardinal, plus 2 inches of ram.... that means your are well stocked at 24 inches Your other fish will be much, much, much happier in a school

I deffinately want more cardinals. Would it be ok to just keep the 3 corries, and add a dwarf gourami? would the gourami get along with the ram?

I would be super cautious about the dwarf gourami.... many have a fatal disease called Dwarf Gourami Iridovirus. A large percentage of fish are infected, and even if the fish look healthy at the LFS, they can still be sick. You may be able to get away with a honey gourami instead of a dwarf gourami, seeing as they are a different species and are immune to the virus. Personally I would get at least 4 corys, the more you have, the more fun they are to watch. Here is a picture of a honey
