Real or fake?

A air of oscars in a 45 gal, is that even possible? Here is the link http://fayar.craigslist.org/pet/1609657094.html

It's possible but it doesn't make it right. Poor things

I agree with Lucy. It is possible to keep them alive but they will certainly never be happy. Unfortunately some people couldn't care less about what fish really need to be happy & healthy.

A few weeks ago I was browsing Ebay looking at tanks and what I saw shocked me. One person had a 90 litre tank (roughly 20 gallon I think?) and in the photos they had two oscars crammed in there! There was barely any space for the poor things. The people were offering the oscars with the tank, even though I don't think you're supposed to sell animals on there. I just couldn't believe anyone could do that. The oscars weren't exactly small, so they were probably in there for quite a while

Live fish and plants are within eBay rules. Poor guys in there, hope whoever buys them has a proper home.

I don't know that much about koi could it even get that big in that tank? That fish would need 200 gallons or more wouldn't it?

I know they get massive 24" roughly but I was wondering if a koi could get that as big as it is if it has spent its life to date in that tank?

I've never seen them in tanks due to the fact most people don't have a goldfish tank that big. I've to have some in my pond but it's way to small and shallow and I know they would get eaten. But I have feeder fish and never get caught, good old murphy's law.

You should know you have a problem when the fish is longer than the tank is deep.

Good morning,

One good thing about all of the links posted above with large fish in small tanks is...they are for sale and hopefully an experienced fish keeper will give them the homes they require and deserve.

So sad to see fish cramped in a home that's wayyyyyy too small for them.

I don't know a lot about keeping arowana but with idle curiosity it took all of 5mintues to discover they need a minimum of a 150gal tank. That 12" might get by in a 100gal for a short period of time until it grows a bit bigger. How does someone spend hundreds of dollars on one and not look up the tank size.

I'm not an experienced fish keeper. I don't have much knowledge about what needs how much space and such.

But even I know that those are just WRONG !

Well there is a big difference between those people we've been talking about and even the most ignorant person on this site. Even people who only read these forums without posting are at least care enough to learn more about taking care of their pets. These other people, well I just can't understand how someone could be so lacking in common sense. I wonder how many fish are living in horrible conditions, unfortunately, I'm sure many more that are in the care of concerned hobbyist. I think a lot of people buy tanks like they would buy a houseplant. Thinking they make a nice decoration that they can put up and forget about it, and if the fish die they just buy more.
