| Is my twenty gallon overstocked?
Hey guys, this is my first post
Anyways, I wanted your opinion on if my twenty gallon is over stocked
20 gallon long current stocking:
6 Zebra Danios
2 Dwarf Gouramis (male and female)
4 Ghost Shrimp
2 Bronze corys
Is it overstocked? Because I was thinking about adding one more Bronze cory so they can be a trio.
Thanks in advance! |

But some people like to give fish more room just to make them that bit more happy and less stressed |

| I think you have enough fish in there. It's fine where it is, but don't add any more. That's just my opinion. Don't get more in that tank until a few pass away. |

| Welcome to fishlore!!!
First, you need to consider rehomeing a gourami. Even though they are male and female, aggression will be a problem eventually. Unless, of course, they are honey gouramis. With that said, one more cory would not be a problem. You may be able to get away with 3 more (not sure about this, you would be slightly overstocked) if you keep up with water changes and rehome that gourami. This will actually RELIEVE stress, being that the corys are really more comfortable with their buddies.
Also... do you have test kit? If not you need to purchase one. API Master test kits are the ones generally reccomended on this site, as I use one myself.... willing to recommend it to anyone! It would also be helpful if you could add information to you aquarium information on this tank concerning filtration, as it makes a huge difference to your stocking. |

| Imo, you're not over stocked. Especially since it's a 20 long. I have one and love the length.
I've never kept 2 gouramis but I've read that you might run into some aggressions issues. |

| I have 17 in my 20 high and I'm at my limit. I do frequent water changes and gravel cleaning to keep the fish happy. |

| Welcome to Fishlore! Yep, just as Rae said, add some more cories. They're better in groups (and more amusing, too!) |

| I think you could add a couple of cories and still be good. Don't know about the DGs though. |

Seventeen of some types of community fish in a 20 could be disastrous, but 17 others could be fine. |

Also, as far as 1" per gallon 17" of neons < 17" of goldfish
it really does depend on several factors |

it really does depend on several factors | I'm not suggesting 17 inches of fish, I'm just saying don't decide on your stock by number of fish, Jaysee. |

| I have 2 Honey Gourami's that I acquired at the same time from the same LFS and they seem to get along pretty well, no aggression and actually rather peaceful. From what I have read I think I am the exception rather than the rule. More Cory's should be fine I had just 2 panda cory's for a while and recently added 2 more. I now have totally different behavior from my originals. The four of them are schooling all over the tank and sometimes they swim in a line going in and out of the decorations like a little parade. They are sooo much fun to watch esecially at feeding time I drop a few wafers in and watch them go to town playing tug of war. Your stocking list is fine just so long as you stay dilligent with your maintenance. Some live plants should help with the excess nitrates. I would be helpful if you could post some of your water parameters. ammonia, nitrite, pH, Nitrates.
Most of all enjoy your new aquatic friends! |

| Well the LFS only sold them by twos. ( That means I can't buy one, they sell them in pairs which is odd) And they were in the same tank in the LFS so i assume there would be no aggression... Right? |

| I have never heard of anyone selling DG's in pairs. Are they Honey DG's? The LFS owner told me Sunset Honey's are normally fine with each other. Just watch and you should be able to tell rather quickly how things are going. I have a male and female as well.
And by the way Welcome to Fishlore! The nice folks here are always willing to help. |

20 gallon longs are fantastic tanks. I think you got the right idea, add another Bronze cory!
