| help deciding on more fish So I have been trying to figure out what fish to go along with 4 pictus catfish and a firemouth cichild that is not aggressive at all. The catfish are about 3 to 4 inches long I would say, and the firemouth is maybe 2.5". So I am trying to find some other fish that I can put along with them that is not to aggressive but will also stay more towards the top of the tank since the others love 1 corner. Any suggestions would be great. | |

| well i moved to a new house and my buddy had a 55 i bought off him.. The convict is now with my friend cause he attacked my firemouth and catfish. I then tried him with my turtles.. well that fish is a bigger jerk then i thought so cause he attacked them to the point my one turtle would not come out of hiding. My filter can handle any load of fish since I am using an FX5 on it. It doesn't have to be peaceful just not as aggressive as the convict was. | |

| Hatchet Fish. They will stay at the top, so not invading the territory of the Firemouth & Pictus & are of a shape that the Firemouth won't try to eat when he gets bigger. |

| You could get a 2nd firemouth and have a pair in there. Do you know the sex of yours? If not, you could get a group of 6 and let 2 pair off and return the rest. This depends on the footprint of your 40 gallon though. Do you have the dimensions?
Rainbowfish are also beautiful active fish that would look very pretty in your tank. They would also occupy the upper levels.
That's about all I can think of right now, but I'll let you know if I think of anything else Last edited by MissMTS; January 19th, 2010 at 07:10 PM.

A severum would also probably be fine in a 55 with a firemouth.
A Jack Dempsey would be fine with your firemouth as well. I would get a small one and grow them up together though.

| hmm not sure why its not showing my aquarium info. I have updated and had the info there just dont know why its not showing up. Is there something else I need to do for it to show.
I was thinking about another firemouth. I do have a male, so possible a female. I was thinking a gourami but the current might be to much for him. | |
