Hello Peshku dije Members!!

I have no idea what my parents have against fish, i need a heater for my betta tank, and its only $13, ill pay for it myself, but they always say no. What do i do?

Do u have the money to pay for it ? if not try and earn some money doing little jobs like paper round or car washing they will believe u are serious then and may help u out,

Unfortunatly, if your parents don't allow you to get the equipment needed, you shouldn't get any more fish.
When we take a pet into our care, it's our responsibility to provide everything that pet needs to thrive.

ok and can u not go and buy the heater ? or is the shop not in your town ? do u have any fish in your tank ?

i can get it, they'll just throw a temper tantrum when i bring it home

oh ok, well you will have to try and tell them your fish could die if you dont get the heater but im guessing you have tried that, also try and get them to read the link lucy has posted if not you may have to return your betta to the store its not fair on the fish really

Sadly, many times people get bad information on what fish require and they are not open to learning that the info is bad. Many people think it is fine to keep goldfish in a bowl and it's hard to change there minds about it. It also doesn't help that fish stores keep betta's on the shelf in unheated, unfilter cups. People who are not well educated on fish care tend to think the "stores" know what they are doing.

The best you can do is try to educate them on proper Betta care. So show them the info Lucy linked you too, and maybe have them get involved in the "Betta Forum" on this site.

There is an old saying that goes:
It is easier to beg forgiveness, than to ask permission!

You could try the theory I use on my wife:
I'm going to ask, and you're going to say "NO", and we are going to have an argument.
I'm going to go ahead and do it anyway, then we are going to have another argument.
If I just do it without asking, we can skip STRAIGHT to the second argument, totally bypassing the first one.
Therefore, I just go ahead and do it without asking to save her the headache of the whole first argument!

On a serious note though...I hope you get your heater.

sometimes people just don't have the money for the raise in the power bill ..it may not be much but in hard time people have to make cuts. If your not into fish then its not needed as is where he is now ... just a thought before you all tell him something to make real trouble for him...like sneak one in or just get it anyway. its not his house, its his parents....jmho

It was tongue-in-cheek, Never meant for him to go ahead and do it without his parent's permission. As my dad always told me...my house, my rules. Hopefully he gets his parent's blessing.
