Does it matter who manufactured the tank?

I got a tank by a company called Aqua Community at Wal-Mart. I didn't see anything wrong with it but I just want to know if they're a good company or not. Thanks!!!

I wish I could help, but I can't seem to find "Aqua Community" fish tank company listed through a Google search at all.
Are you sure that is the brand name? Are there any other names on the package/label?
Otherwise, I'll look at Wally World the next time I go and see if mine carries them...

IMO, if the tank isn't of a large capacity (over 40G) and
you handle it carefully (i.e. use a level stand, lift it evenly, don't stress the corners, etc)
it should be ok.

I still have the 29g I bought from walmart about8-10 yrs ago and it still looks great so I would agree with Alice M

OH CRUD! I purchased a 55 gallon. Should I return it and go elsewhere? I haven't opened it out of the box yet. Please help!

EDIT: I moved this to the Freshwater Tank section because that's where it was supposed to be initially. It would still be extremely helpful if someone could help.

Now, hold on, I'm not sure that is necessary...
Maybe Aqua Community is made by a traditional brand we've heard of, maybe they just bought out the company recently.

Have you found any other names on the box near the UPC label?? Top Fin or any other??

Next, how thick is the glass. Try to measure it looking at the front corner.
Often the front glass panel is thicker than the side glass.

The only 55 gallon kits I've seen at Walmart are called Aqua Culture. Is that it?
Many of the "off brand" tanks are manufactured by major aquarium companies. I wouldn't worry about it.

Shoot, yeah, I agree with harpua2002. They sell a ton of those!
Walmart's site says that kit weighs 80+ lbs. That's alot of glass.
I'll bet you'll be fine.
Get that bad boy level, fill'er up and start the cycle!

yep we've moved ours several times and even to another state and it's still in good shape. But like any glass tank you have to be careful how you handle it. You should get many years of enjoyment out of it.

I bought a kit tank from walmart a few years ago and it was an off brand, but the name on the box was only the name of the heater and filter on the inside (absolute junk I quickly replaced). The tank itself was still all-american glass with all of their factory labeling on the tank.

I've noticed the aqueon kits contain aqueon heater and filter and so-on and so-forth. The glass itself is made by the major manufacturers.

I don't worry about brands AT ALL.
I buy all my tanks used, so I have no idea what brand they are. IMO, it's the name that just makes you spend more $$$$.

Well, thanks for all the replies. But unfortunately before I read all of them I returned the tank, went to support my LFS and purchased a different tank. Plus the one I got was longer so that's nice.

ALSO, it wasn't Aqua Community but Aqua Culture like the one guy said.

While it may seem pointless that I returned it, I am still satisfied that I did. I would not be able to live with myself being so worried that it would leak or something. That's how my family is! We obsess over EVERYTHING! Plus, I'm glad that I supported a local business.

Congrats on the new tank! What size (gallon and dimensions) did you end up with?
Good times are ahead with the planning, researching, dreaming etc. Have fun!
