Will These Work?

I was wondering, will a electric yellow Cichlid live peacefully with a Firemouth?

Thanks

Nooo...Electric Yellows are an African cichlid...while Firemouths are American. They would not mix well.

The Electric Yellow would probably kill the Firemouth.
Pluse they have VERY different water requirements & food requirements.

Depends on the tank size....
And what else is in the tank

What size tank? Neither of these fish for a 10 or 20 gallon IMO. I'd say 30 gallons minimum for a firemouth and 55 gallons minimum for a group of yellow labs. Other mbuna could be kept with the labs in a 55.

What about a pair of Blue Rams? They would do well by themselves in a 10g.

there really are NO cichlids for a 10g tank...shell dwellers even need bigger IMO...how about a nice community tank?

would you consider making the 10 community and the bigger cichlids? Or maybe the big one community and do a puffer tank with the 10?

I agree with Shawnie. No cichlids for a 10gal tank. They all need more room than a 10gal can offer. Go with a tropical community of Tetras or something like that. Or maybe a fighter.

What about a few tigerbarbs (only)

You really need at least 6 Tiger Barbs otherwise they will stress each other to death with thier constant attacks on each other. There are no hiding places in a tank that small so peacefull fish are really the only way to go. 6 Tiger Barbs would be overstocked in a 10g. Perhaps Cherry Barbs would be more suitable. You could have 5 of those in a 10g with no great problems. Even that is right on the stocking limit. Some small tetras would be more suitable.

you should get a moderator to merge your threads since they both deal with stocking the 10 gallon, and at this point are dealing with the same question... you'll get more consistent responses.

edit: nutter's conclusion is the same as mine from your other thread, but his is more eloquent.

Don't use your big words around me!! I had to look in the dictionary just to refresh myself on what it even means. I don't think anyone has ever said I "speak fluently & express my ideas vividly"!! I've been called colourful, but that's because of my tendency to swear too much. Never called eloquent! Very good, I needed a good laugh.

I am lucky. They have the best prices, mostly know what they are talking about, mention the cycle on their website, keep their tanks and store clean, and the fish seem healthy.
