| 36 Gallon Ideas? Hello Everyone!
So as some of you may have seen, im getting a 36 gallon for my birthday, i was wondering how to stock it. I want variaty though. So I have a few Questions.
1. I have a 10 gallon in which i will be transfering ALL of the fish from, how long do i have to keep the 36 gallon tank running to add fish if I swap filter media from the established tank to the new one? I would guess 6 Hours?
2. I want a cichlid, a peaceful one ovbiously , what do you think I should get (I will have Neon Tetras so if that helps) and it cant be a ram because stores here dont sell em.
3. Just wondering, how many fish can i have in a 36 if they all are 1.5 inches? Just Wondering
4. Im guessing I should introduce 3 fish a day until all of them are out of the 10 gallon? Is that correct?
5. What are the advantages of a Bow Front?
Thanks soooo much
Also if it helps, ill be getting this tank: http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=3804459 |

| 1. is the 10 gal cycled? if so, how long has it been cycled?
2. without a list of fish going in there, its hard to recommend something else
3. again it depends on what you have going in there ...always count the adult size of a fish not what they are now as juvies
4. again depends on what fish are moving and what you are using to cycle a tank....if you are just relying on the 10g media and such, just move the fish in the 10g with it...
5. bow fronts rock IMO ..they just look cool and have allot of horizontal swim space... |

| heaters are pretty cheap....and the other fish need more of a steady temp so they dont stress out....78F is good...if they stress too much with temps moving up and down, it could cause ICH and other issues |

| i'd consider returning the chinese algae eater, he'll be too big even for the 36 and they have a tendency to latch onto fish and suck at their slime coats! i'd also consider returning some of the tetras so that you can have full schools, for example if you return the glolight, the lamp eye, and the rasbora then you can get 4 more neons and 4 more danios and have full schools of each of those, then maybe add 6 cories on the bottom (if you return the CAE) |

I stopped by mine today and asked if I could donate my Chinese algae eater, and they said as long as he is well, that they will take him. Sadly enough, they had 2 10 gallon tanks FULL of small CAE's and they had smiley faces drawn on both tanks. |

| I agree with exactly what Alex said, I had a CAE for years but trust me, when they turn nasty, you will wish you had listened, mine killed 2 of my angelfish, I have got a pic of one of the bodys it left but its not pretty so I won't post it. |
