| This tank is not gonna work is it? Hello Everyone ,
I have a problem here :P, my cousin wants to stock his 10 gallon like this:
2 Rasboras
2 Neon Tetras
2 Glolight Tetras
2 Black Neon Tetras
Cory Cat
2 Sword Tales
Otto Catfish
Dwarf Gourami
ALL in a 10 gallon. I told him this wont work (by the way, he already has 1 Rasboars, the neons, 1 sword tale and the otto) and he said he'll do 50% water changes each week if he gets these, will it work out? My opinion is no, but you guys probably know more than me , Thanks |

| Hi welcome to FishLore
Imo, I don't think it's a good idea.
Even with extra water changes there's the question of swim room.
Sword tails get surprisingly big. I never realized that until I saw some adults in a fish store.
The neons and black neons should schoal together. The glow lights might join them although they're a little larger.
Otos have less stress when they're in groups, so adding a few would be a good idea.
Cories do better in 3's but there's not room for that. They can get up to 3". At least mine did. lol
Rasbora are schooling fish and do best with at least 5 or 6, but again, there's not room.
Perhaps you could talk him into a bigger tank or trading the sword tail and Rasboras for more otos.
He'll have his (2) neons, (2) black neons, (2) glowlights and (3-4) otos.
Still a little over stocked, but manageable.
Best of luck whatever he decides to do Last edited by Lucy; December 30th, 2009 at 12:39 PM.

| I agree, that would most definitely be overstocked. Lucy's stocking suggestion sounds like a fabulous compromise. |

| You may be able to pull it off in a 20 with alot of good up keep water change's not over feeding and what not. |

| Is he preparing for a flood, keeping 2 of everything? |

| Lucy's idea is great, but I'd go with 3 otos and add another glowlight (that makes 3) to scatter the flood idea (jk, sorry, Jaysee) and make the glowlights feel more secure.
EDIT: Oops, I was talking about the 10 gallon, no idea about the 20. Last edited by Lucy; December 30th, 2009 at 02:21 PM.

| I thought that Neons should be kept in groups no smaller than 4. |

I've seen them schoal together. |

| I must have some monsters, cause mine are twice the size of the neons. Not in length, but in overall size. |

| Or, if they are anything like my neons that I just got, they won't school at all. |

| lol. I use the word schoal, as kind of hanging out together. I don't mean that they'll school.
Getting a nice schooling effect, Imo, requires a larger tank and a nice big school. |
