Bad little Guppy!!

Hello all,

As some of you know i just got a 16 gallon tank and put 3 guppies and two platys in it. Everything started out ok and the guppies were all swimming around and the platys were hiding now one of the guppies has started nipping at the other fish. Although the platys are coming out a little bit more, one of the guppies is hiding behind my filter and will not come out except to grab a mouth full or two of food and then goes back to hiding.

Any advice on what I should do please?
Thanks.

upgrade to a bigger tank if at all possible.....are the guppies all males? if so, they can be pretty nasty to one another without girls to keep them occupied...how long has the tank been cycled?

Umm the tank has been running with TSS and fish for 6 days... I MIGHT be able to upgrade to a 55g tank for Christmas... any sooner than that I doubt but I could try... They are all three males because I don't have the means to take care of fry...

ahh it could be a combo of the cycling process and not as much room to get their own space...good luck and I hope things look up soon!!!

To be honest, guppies are cute little meanies. I have 6 males in a 29g tank, they were alone for a while and all they did was gang up and chase the orange male. The orange male, in return, would chase each of them individually when they would be caught alone. It's true, I have no females in so they must probably do something to pass their time. Since I added the cories, they show some intrest in the new additions and study them closely. They are slowly losing the interest in chasing each-other...phew

Ok, thanks.

Hopefully it will end after the cycle... I just feel bad for the little fella up behind the filter at least the platys seem to be getting less shy... although the guppy goes for them sometimes he soon gets a lil nip right back.

My Platys were the same, took them a couple of weeks before they grew more confident, so may just need some time
