Me Right Now! Please!

So I just came home to find cobweb like white stringy stuff in my tank and my water is very cloudy. what is it? My fish seems ok. A little shocked that I just changed a bunch of his water but i freaked out. Help! I don't want Gustave to die.

It sounds like white hair algae. From what I've heard it's not harmful to the fish, but hang in for some of our algae experts. they can put you on the right path.

I don't know what it is but I don't think you should worry too much. Worse case scenario you do a few daily water changes and monitor your chemistry. Hopefully some one will come along whose experienced this before but don't worry, just do your part. Gustave wants to live just as bad as you want him to, so he'll do his part too.

Good morning. It sounds like white hair/thread algae to me as well. Not harmful to your fish and some fish will eat it. You can remove it with your hands or gravel vacuums. Chances are it will return until it runs it course. Very common in new tanks up to one year.
