please help! :P

Hello fishlore! 2 weeks ago i upgraded my 10g to a 30gallon. I have used the "instant cycle" process and been using my 10 AND 30 gallon filter in my 30 gallon. am i ready to put my 10gallon filter back into my 10 gallon? or would that still cause my 30 gallon to recycle. also when i do put my 10gallon filter back; if i put some of the 30gallon water in the 10 gallon along with the filter will that 10gallon tank be auto cycled again?
Please Help!

Thanks-
~Binskiboi

Hi bin!

You won't know when to put the filter back until you test the water in the 30g aquarium. Do you have some sort of test kit?

Hi
Two weeks should be fine, can you give it a little longer?
It's always easier to seed a smaller tank from a larger tank than the other way around.
Transferring water really won't do much good but the 10g filter should.

Once you move the 10g filter out of the 30, keep a close eye on your parameters.
Don't add anymore fish until you're sure you have a solid cycle.
After you put the 10g filter back in the 10g tank, it should still be cycled and ready for a couple of fish, but again, keep a close eye on your readings.
Do water changes as your readings indicate.

What are you going to put in the 10g?
Good luck!

possibly a few phantom tetras, im looking for a pirahna like fish that tear apart food like blood worms (entertainment; no live food or anything)
basically fish that have the same attitude as pirahnas but can live in a 10gallon. have any better suggestions on fish?

Dwarf puffers are freshwater. Read the link, I think only one in a 10g, but I'm not positive.

In a 10 gallon you MIGHT be able to get away with two but it would have to be a heavily planted tank in order to break line of sight as they are nasty little brats to other fish, even eachother.

I just read your other thread. Sorry, I'm confused.
I thought you had fish in the 30g. Did you feed the tank to keep the bacteria alive?
Is this 30 a brackish tank? (saw you were getting a GSP) If so, I'm not sure you can just transfer a filter from a brackish tank into a FW tank without doing harm to FW fish.
I could be wrong.

Most information says 5 gallons per puffer, I said might be able to get away with two because how territorial they are changes from fish to fish. I would say 1 is safer but if you were going to do two (as people say you could) I would go with heavily planted with lots of hidey holes so they can establish their territories with a minimum of fuss.

I wasnt concerned with space or inch per gallons as i was bioload and not playing nice....every one has an opinion and IMO 2 in a 10 gal would be too much and they would have to have a few water changes a week as well as a close eye on their aggressiveness ..but again, thats just me
