Mystery Snails

We have 4 mystery snails in our 72 gallon tank. One of the snails is floating. He's still in his shell. Why is he floating? What can I do so he doesn't float?

Thank you

Bernice

Welcome to Fishlore How long has your tank been set up, what else is in the tank, what are your water params? If you would take a moment to update your aquarium info it will be a lot easier for everyone to try and figure out what is going on.

I snails and haven't seen them float but I have read of others posting that their snails float so I don't think it's something to be worried about.

Hi Bernice,

I have bladder snails (pond snails)and I see them floating on top of the water occationally. I'm not sure why they do it but they are still living! I think it's okay

Mystery Snails do that. We have them in our Koi pond. Sometimes when they do I think there dead but if you just leave them you will see that they will come to life again. Sometimes they will do that for a few days. One way to tell is to tap on the door plate. If they draw it in they are alive. If there is no response then they are probably dead but I still wait a day or so to be sure.

Hello Children11. The snails floating, in most cases, is natural. He's floating because he wants to. Please don't try to keep him from it. Here is a link:
Mystery Snails you may find interesting. Too, don't be surprised if he floats and gets into the current and floats around the tank. I've read the term Parasnailing, teehee. He's having fun!
