I can see it now, it kind of looks like brush algae or the beginning stage of it. How long do you leave your lights on and how often do you do w/c's?
im aiming for 12hrs like 8-8 or sumthn like that
its just been really hard to spend all my time with the tank between a family emergency and college or else Id be on top of it, excuses aside tho, I prob should figure out a set pattern for the lights. Also I bought the Prime and put in extra cuz it said so if I have a nitrite prob hope it works like u said
Prime detoxifies ammonia for 24 hours so while you do the water change the bacteria isn't being overloaded of having to convert ammonia and nitrites at the same time now it's focusing on converting nitrites to nitrate. Reduce your photoperiod to 8-9 hours a day. Do you have a timer?

Just wanted to say that what I learned about the nitrogen cycle in my Microbiology class, that there is actually 2 different bacteria living in your tank.
All bacteria need a 'food source' and an 'energy' source
Both of these bacteria use oxygen as an energy source.
One bacteria uses ammonia as a food source, and nitrite is a waste product.
The other uses nitrite as a food source, and nitrate is a waste product.
More of an FYI, hope it isn't too off topic (I have a midterm on this stuff in a week!)
From what my prime bottle says, is that it converts Nitrite and Ammonia into a safe form that is still recognized by the bacteria. So it keeps your fish safe, and still feeds the bacteria in the tank

Hi and welcome to FL
I would suggest getting a timer for your lights so that you can set them to be on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours,so it won`t be a problem if you are not there to do it manually.
in your pics, one looks like green hair algae, (on the left pic) and one looks like diatoms (the right pic)...mathas is great with identifying algae...the brownich algae(in the pic on the right) if thats what im seeing, is normal for new tanks..and will go away on its own...but will sometimes take the plants with it..
