So I've finally decided..

to turn my 29g tank into a tetra/cory tank. Even tho i LOVE my bettas, im going to wait it out some and get its own tank when i can. So I realize with the cardinal tetras and cories, they seem to make well off better with an established tank.

I'm going to start cycling my tank this weekend and was wondering how I should go about this business. Seems to be better if i fishless cycle especially with the fish I want, instead of using the tetra startsafe. So if I fishless cycle with fish food or ammonia..

...how long should i wait to put those fish in? and how many at a time? or should the TSS make no difference and cycle with a type of tetra?
also what other tetra would work well with cardinals and cories?

hope im not too confusing lol

I don't think you would have a problem using TSS with the cardinals or cories. I have used it with a lot of my fish and have never lost a fish in the process.

Personally, I think that one large school of cardinals looks stunning. I think it would look better than mixing types of tetras, but that's just my opinion. I would do the following:

10 Cardinal Tetras
6 Cories
1 Pearl Gourami or Angelfish

Good luck with the tank, and don't forget to post pics

I like MissMTS's stocking suggestion. I mixed a few Glow Lights in with my Cardinals.
It's pretty cool with they all school together.

yea i love the cardinals they seem very beautiful and chill at the same time. and will one angel fish be ok byitself? (as in a pair) in a 29g? I thought they like tanks that are higher?

I don't know much about Angels but from what I've been advised one Angel would do fine in your size tank.

I kept a pair of angels in a 29G for a year and they did great. A single angel should be perfect for your tank Angels tend to be aggressive when you keep them in pairs and they start breeding, so a single angel is a great option if you want a peaceful tank.

thanks alot, I've thought about getting angels before but kept reading about housing them with fin nippers (i used to want barbs) and the tank not being big enough
