2 questions

1) Is there a substitute for a pea for constipation?
2) I test for ammonia more than anything else. When I run out of that in my API kit, is there a refill just for ammonia, or do i have to spend money for the whole kit again?

thanks

not sure about a substitution for peas, sorry; but yes, if you're using the API vials you can buy seperate tests so you wont have to buy the master kit again (assuming thats what you have); ive also seen strips just for ammonia as well

Test strips aren't usually recommended as they are really inaccurate. But I know you can buy the individual tests. If you can't find them at the LFS you can find them online.

Aquarium Fish Constipation
Here is a link you may find helpful Mom. You should be able to find each individual test sold separately.
Best wishes!

Daphnia can be used as a substitute for a pea for relieving constipation. When my betta was alive, I used to feed him freeze dried Dapnia once a week as a preventitive measure, since Betta's are prone to constipation.
