How many little ones can i put?

Hello all.

First- i love this site.
Second- going straight to business. eheheh
I have a 10g tank and i have a betta and 2 panda cory. My first question is how many more fish can i still add?
2- IF i can add more. Do i have to get more cories? i read that they run happier in a school.
What im thinking of doing is adding 5 neon Tetras n maybe.. maybe adding 1 more cory. pls let me know what is the best thing to do. Thx for ur reply.

welcome to fishlore!!
you could get away with maybe 2 more cories ...if you keep a close eye on parimeters .....I wouldnt add any other fish besides that as your betta probably wont play nice...

I think you can't have tetras and a betta together.

Some people have successfully kept a betta with tetras (I actually have a female betta in my community tank which includes 12 neon tetras), but the betta is very very likely to get its fins nipped unless it's a plakat or a female. Also, a betta would be less inclined to be aggressive to bottom dwellers (corydoras) than to mid-level and/or top dwellers (tetras).

I would personally get oto's they are smaller and less likely to have a chance of getting bullied by the betta instead of corys

tetras may nip your betta's fin but I read neon are a lot nicer but not a %100 sure. Betta's should really be by themselves but they're ok with cories. You need at least 1 more panda cory b/c they feel more secure and a lot more playful in bigger schools. You can also have shrimps like grass shrimps but not too small b/c your betta might eat them.

My betta does play nice. My 2 cories play around a lot and move fast. They even playing underneath the betta. But i though i could add a total of 8 little fish in my tank. I have a Aquaclear 30 on my 10gal tank.

10g setups with bettas are harder to have them accept others.to try a community tank with a betta, 20g or even larger might be best.....theres not that much space to get away...bottom feeders are usually accepted as bettas dont spend a ton of time on the bottom except to play and explore....do you have a back up tank if the tetras get mean or visa versa?

Welcome and Betta Care Guide - Please Read First!!!
Hello Shanks and Welcome to Fish Lore. The link above will provide you with some good information on Betta's. If you added anything I would suggest more Cory's as well and not Neons.
Hope you enjoy the site.
