A question about temperature?

hi ive have read all my replys and other about the treatment of ICH, if the parasite cannot live at a temperature of 82-84 can u not keep the temperature of the water at that to prevent the ich in the 1st place? Thanks x

84F is too high for most fish to live for their whole lives.

Hello Nuttychick. I agree with Lucy. Other than Discus fish I can't think of any other fish that would require such a high temperature. As long as you maintain a steady temperature with no fluctuations and a calm peaceful tank with no stress issues then there shouldn't be any ICH to worry about at the lower temperatures. Higher temperatures for the fish that you have could certainly shorten the life spans.
