Fresh stocking

Im currently in the process of aquiring a 55g tank off craigslist (best place in the world) and have some questions. Im planning on putting Angels and cories in there, either one or four angels, and about six cories. I wanted to put Neon tetras as well but have read that its not smart. Im set on the angels and cories, anyone have any suggestions as to what else i could comfortably fit? Thanks in advance

Welcome to fishlore ariel!!

You can have 4 angels and a school of neons if you get the angels as juvies....the biggest risk going that way is that you may have a pair of angels that wont tolerate the other two and you may have to rehome a pair of them if 2 pair up to spawn....if juvie angels grow up with the neons, you have a better chance of them not having them as a snack and 6 cories would be fine to add with them....you may have to be a bit more vigilant on water changes, but its all doable !
congrats on the new tank!

SWEET! thanks so much for the help, i appreciate it. And that guide is phenominal, even if it is just a "guide" i checked out the 55g section and have a question; According to the guide it says i can keep two angels, ten schooling and ten bottom feeders; so that means i could keep two angels, ten neons and ten cories, or am I off? Also, if i did to decide to keep the four angels, would six cories and eight neons be overstocking? How many neons would i be able to keep with that setup? also, would it be possible to have all that, but insted of four angels, have two or one, and some gourami? Im just shooting into the dark here.

you could with extra care of watching the water....

probably not overstocking, but territorial issues might pop up as the angels will need more space especially if they pair up

If you get 2 angels that happen to pair off, they wont tolerate many other bigger fish..the neons are fast enough to get away...if you get 1 angel, and 1 gourami with your neons and cories, that could work ....

with all fish, having a back up plan(spare tank) or be able to return something if it doesnt work, is important...but doing your research first, is super important and thats awesome that you are doing so
