Is it possible to cycle in 2 days

My new tank I took one of the media baskets of ceramic rings and put it in the filter of the new tank. Day one readings were .5 0 and 5. and day 2 0, 0, 10 and today after adding some ammonia last night it is still 0, 0, 10.

So can I add a few fish to keep the bacteria alive.

Thanks

Yes, it's possible. I'v had tanks cycle very quickly using seeded filter media. Many of us keep extra sponges/media in established tanks for a quick cycle.

It looks good to me, but one question.
What reading did you bring your ammonia up to last night?

Add some more ammonia. Give it an hour then take your readings. If the numbers are all good you should have no problem adding a few fish but keep it down to just 2 or 3 & keep a good eye on those readings!! If your readings start going up, get those water changes happening pronto!

Good point Lucy, I should have asked that question myself.

I'm not sure you brought it up high enough to get an accurate indication.
I think to have a good bed of bacteria, it should be able to process 2-4ppm in 12-24 hours.
Wait for another opinion on that though.

Are you using liquid or strip test kit?

Cool, it should be accurate then assuming your test kit isn't expired. It looks like you cycled your new tank Any thoughts of what's going in?

I agree with lucy...up the ammonia to 2-4ppms and wait 24 hours..if its processed, its safe..... .5 isnt high enough...

I agree with shawnie and lucy, although possible, you would need to have the reading be higher. Lucky duck! ive been cycling for 2 weeks lol

I upped the Ammonia to 2 Parts this morning and as we speak just tested it and it already down to .25.

So it looks promising.

As for what I am going to put in it.

I am thinking
2 Rainbow Sharks
8 Tiger Barbs
8 Cory Cats

Unless this is not such a good idea.

Good to know that is why I ask.

The rainbow shark might be a bit aggresive agianst the corys maybe? The tiger barbs are very nippy so make sure the corys don't get nipped too bad, you could almost might be able to add a convict cichlid but only one or else too many babies

Hello Thanson. I'll be looking forward to updates on your new set up. I would also reconsider having 2 Rainbow sharks in the 60g. I have one in my 265g and wouldn't even consider another one for it as large as it is. He doesn't bother any of my 4 Cory's at all. He actually buddies around with them. He doesn't bother my Bloody Parrots (he doesn't have the nerve) but he does chase my Silver Dollars around sometimes. No damage done.
Have fun. Hopefully you'll be cycled soon.

I agree 1 rbs , 8 cories, 8 tiger barbs, and how about one of the following?

1 3 spot gourami with 5-6 cardinal tetras?
1-2 kissing gourami(not sure if you can have 2 of the kissers together..never kept them so research those) with some rosey barbs or tinfoil barbs?
pair of kribs?
pair of firemouths ?
