I'd move all of the livebearers to the 72 gallon & add an angelfish or 2. As for the 35 gallon... puffer puffer puffer!!!

This is the samething I was going to suggest. That way you can keep the population in check and breed them when you want. Keep male guppies with female platies in one tank and female guppies with male platies in the other or something like that.
