Just an idea...

Ok well I was watching tv and I saw an ad for a thing that you flush down your toilet and it eats stuff in your septic tank. Would this be safe to use in a fishtank to help cycle the tank?

I'd worry about it. My guess is that it's either the terrestrial bacteria or the enzymes, neither of which will cycle a tank. There's also the issue of concentration. That stuff is made to operate on a scale of hundreds of gallons.

Not too sure I like the sound of that. I don't think it could contain anything good for an aquarium.
I think the seeding with media from a healthy tank is the best way to go followed by pure ammonia for a fishless cycle, then cycling with fish followed by the bacteria in a bottle stuff that I really don't think much of at all.

Hello Gouramiguy. I highly suggest you not use that product. We are on a septic system here at home. That product would make such a mess in your tank you would have to tear it down and start all over. Not to mention other chemicals that are probably included in it that aren't fish safe. I really don't think your fish would survive at all. I wish I had a box of it in front of me but I don't. Please, don't use it in your aquarium.
Thanks!
Ken

Anaerobic. You might be right. Since septic tanks are typically anaerobic setups (nobody wants them to be exposed to air ), if it's not an enzyme, it's likely an anaerobic bacteria, which would do the job, but would likely dump a bunch of really nasty toxins into the water (think a bad cyanobacterial bloom).
